ONBOARDING

  • No. Trainees in a Graduate Medical Education program in the state of Maryland are not required to have their own medical license.

  • You’ll be able to apply once you have your car. Once you do, fill out the application and email neuroeducation@som.umaryland.edu after it’s submitted.

  • Please email your updated car information to neuroeducation@som.umaryland.edu

  • Neruo education will email your employee ID in June.

  • Please put your CURRENT contact information on all forms that ask you for your home address, phone, emails, etc. even though we understand it may change once you start your fellowship.

  • Please contact Employee Health directly! Please do not email test results or health requirement questions to your coordinators.

    Coordinators may reach out to you if you are non-compliant with Employee Health requirements but we do not have access to any files.

ORIENTATION

  • Orientation will begin on July 1st or the first working day immediately following this date.

    The full schedule will be sent out before the end of June.

  • Due to the complexities of scheduling all the trainings, the orientation schedule will not be available until June. We will send it to you and add it to the website as soon as it is available.

    If you have any specific orientation schedule questions, email neuroeducation@som.umaryland.edu.

  • New fellows should work with their individual divisions to find out the preferred process for time off requests.

PERSONAL & BENEFITS

  • Your benefits will be reviewed during your orientation session with the GME Office. This will be automatically scheduled for you and included on your orientation schedule.

  • For individuals who start work on July 1, 2025, paychecks will be distributed on June 20, 2025. Paychecks are biweekly.

  • Our program and UMMC do not cover the cost of a membership. However, there are discounted rates for UMMC staff. To find pricing, go to the URec Fit and Wellness Eligibility and Rates page and select Affiliated Member.

  • A letter can be drafted for you. Reach out to neuroeducation@som.umaryland.edu with a description of what you need and the details that should be included.
