Residency Oversight Committee

The Residency Oversight Committee is charged with providing oversight as to the conduct of the residency program. It is chaired by the Program Director and membership consists of the Department Chair, Chief Residents, and other faculty. The Committee provides a regular forum in which to review the status of the program and insure compliance with rules and regulations. The Committee sets Departmental policy regarding the residency program.

Program Evaluation Committee:

Annually, the Residency Oversight Committee will serve as the Program Evaluation Committee and prepare a report to the UMMC GME office.  See Appendix for PEC description and responsibilities.

Clinical Competency Committee

The Clinical Competency Committee consists of the Program Director and other faculty of the program.  They will meet twice a year and assess each resident’s current status based upon the Neurology Milestones developed by the Neurology Residency Review Committee of the ACGME.  See Appendix for CCC description and responsibilities.

The CCC meets in the Spring each year to review each resident’s progress in the program and determines if the resident is qualified to advance to the next year of training. Advancement is contingent upon meeting the specific objectives for each year of training, as well as the specific objectives for each individual rotation or elective.

‍A resident who is deemed unqualified to advance to the next year of training, based upon not meeting the specific objectives as noted above, will be given remediation. If remediation is unsuccessful in the allotted period of time, the resident may be asked to repeat the year. If the resident is deemed to be unfit for completion of the program, the resident, in consultation with the University of Maryland GME Office, may be asked to leave the program.

‍Residents should be aware of the UMMC Due Process Hearing Procedure which is detailed at http://umm.edu/professionals/gme/policies
