VA MS CLINIC

Resident providers are assigned patients based off their rotation schedule. There is a mixture of initial visit and follow-up patients. Residents are expected to complete a follow-up visit in 40 minutes and initial visit in 60 minutes, allowing 20 minutes for staffing.
The VA Senior, due to call responsibilities, has a reduced template schedule; if consults occur in the AM or during lunchtime, VA Senior have been allotted 60 minutes prior to the first patient to see a consult prior to clinic.
The clinic will utilize exam rooms assigned on 4A/4B, and room assignments should be posted on the door by nurse/MAs. Attendings for staffing will be in the resident workroom.

VSECS
Please remember to use VSECS for tracking when patients arrive and are triaged (do not rely solely on vital signs in CPRS). Residents will need to enter our VA Baltimore, followed by the clinic name (BT Neuroimmunology Res 1/2/3) to see an accurate patient list. Residents also should edit the system to include when they are seeing the patient and finish with the patient (similar to the University "dot" system). Find Dr. Fredrich if unfamiliar or do not have VSECS access.
Multiple Sclerosis Surveillance Registry (MSSR)
As part of the standard of care for all MS patients seen at the Center of Excellence, please bring the MSSR form (one per patient) prior to your clinic session. Note there are new and follow-up forms. This form should be filled out during pre-scharting prior to clinic and reviewed for accuracy in real time with the patient during clinic. Turn the completed form in to the attending at the start of staffing. Please note, start/stop/indications are required in the DMT review section of the form.
Note Template
For all new patient visits, there is a CPRS note template which is required for use. Residents are expected to collect all this information on an initial visit intake; if providing care for a follow-up patient with data missing, you are highly encouraged to obtain missing information and put in templated note form.
