Someone once advised me to pick a specialty I most enjoyed reading about – since 2nd year of medical school, I have loved learning about the nervous system. There are also so many directions you can go within Neurology, and I’m excited about exploring them. I also like that I can be a subspecialist and at the same time form close relationships with my patients.
I came to University of Maryland as part of the couples match. There was a great community feel and an easy welcoming environment that appealed to me. That openness and community feel has definitely held true during my time as a resident. The attendings are not only experts in their fields, but have shown that they are approachable and interested in resident learning and development. I also initially liked Baltimore for its location in that it is accessible to other cities up and down the east coast. Since moving here, I’ve come to realize what a great city it is, and how much unique charm and quirkiness it offers. Outside of work, I like to go to nearby trails to hike and run with my boyfriend, try out new restaurants, go to the many outdoor movies and concerts in the summer, cook, and travel as much as possible.
