Sharon Afflu

I grew up in Edison NJ with my 4 siblings and was a competitive swimmer until I moved to Boston for college. I chose neuroscience as a major pretty randomly my freshman year and ended up loving it. I really love the brain and interacting with people which is how I ended up on this journey to becoming a neurologist.

I applied to UMaryland to be closer to family and friends near here, in addition to being impressed by what was offered in this residency program. It was one of my favorite interviews during interview season, and even with that I have been pleasantly surprised ever since. Everyone I have interacted with and/or worked with, both in internal medicine and neurology, has been incredibly nice and supportive.  Additionally, Baltimore feels more and more like home the more I get to explore and make memories. I am thrilled to be training here.
