I grew up in Kenya and moved to the USA in 2014. Growing up in a 3rd world country, I had an early realization of pursuing medicine driven by the scarcity of medical resources in Kenya along with my interest in the sciences. What led me to the path of neurology was being a survivor of a previous TBI. My interest in the field grew from my countless visits to my local neurologist and the empathetic care that I once received. I wanted to pursue a field where I empathize and improve the quality of life with diseased burdened patients.  My interest was confirmed during my clinical rotations, when I realized I connected most with neurology patients. I wanted to be at an academic center that gave me the best learning experience but one that also made me feel at home, and I felt that during my interview with UMMC, the faculty put effort to know me personally and not just my resume.

During my down time, I love going to the gym and running along the inner harbor. Baltimore has activities for all kinds of personalities. I personally love the water since I grew up on the coast of Indian ocean in Kenya. My favorite sporting activities are soccer and tennis, but I also love to just lay back and watch some good old Netflix. Baltimore has a great food scene with cuisines from all over the world. Coming from a suburb, I initially thought I wouldn’t fit well moving into a city, however, I was wrong. Baltimore is in fact a Charm city.
