I first became interested in neurology at a young age, as my mother has epilepsy and I used to go with her to her appointments. We used to read Oliver Sacks books together, and I became fascinated with all the different ways that brain functions could go awry. This led me to study neuroscience in college, and as I entered medical school at University of Maryland, I maintained my level of interest in the field, but remained open to other specialties. However, during my neurology clerkship and later rotations, I knew I had found "my people" - a group of wonderful residents and attendings who were equally enthralled as I was by the idea of localizing a disease process by simply performing the maneuvers of the physical exam.
For residency, I knew I wanted to stay close to home, and I could think of no better place than with the amazing faculty and patient population we have at the University of Maryland. Baltimore has been my home since I graduated from college in 2010, and I have really grown to love the city and all it has to offer, including excellent restaurants, a vibrant art scene, and beautiful parks.
In my free time, I like to try new restaurants, travel (especially to try new foods and wines), see live music, and hang out with my husband and our puppy, Leo, in the city. I also like to draw and paint, and I do calligraphy as well.
