Hi, I'm Karan. I was born in North Carolina but spent most of my upbringing on the west coast in a humble little town known as Henderson, NV. For undergraduate, I went to Rutgers University and was planning on majoring in business, however, I really enjoyed my bio course and decided to major in biology instead. I worked in the ER as a scribe, but also did research in neurosciences which I attribute to first sparking my interest in the CNS. Though it was always in the back of my mind, I solidified my decision to go to medical school at the end of my Junior year.  Once I got into medical school, I became interested in neurology after the clerkship. I had just felt like I had found my people. My attendings were awesome and I could genuinely find myself being interested in the subject matter decades into the career. Maryland was my first interview of the season. I remember being so nervous. When I got here, all my anxiety went away because the residents were so welcoming. I felt I got a really good idea about the program and the competitive advantages it had. Since becoming a neuro resident, I have felt nothing short of fully supported.  I've noticed a great camaraderie between the seniors, and they have done a great job making sure that we have all integrated seamlessly after our transition from our prelim year in internal medicine. If I say so myself, we are the perfect group to quarantine with.

Baltimore has been amazing. Exploring Roland Park, Fed Hill, and the harbor has been a great experience. The food scene is pretty good and I have some go to's that I enjoy frequently. Some of my interests outside neurology include finance and gaming.
