I was born and brought up in the Los Angeles area and went to school at UC Berkeley. In college, I was a molecular and cell biology major with a concentration in neurobiology. I've been fascinated with neuroscience and neurology and cognition since I was in high school, so I took as many higher level neuroscience classes as I could including cognitive neuroscience, neuroscience of aging, neuroanatomy, and neuropsychology. I was fortunate enough to be close to UCSF and started doing research in their Memory and Aging Center, which helped confirm my desire to pursue neurology. After a gap year continuing my research at UCSF, I moved halfway across the country to Cleveland for medical school at Case Western Reserve University. While there, I loved my neuroscience/neurology classes in the pre-clinical years as well as my clinical rotations/sub-internships at both Case Western and the Cleveland Clinic. I especially enjoyed seeing the diversity of diseases in neurology and being able to localize lesions with the detailed physical exam, which solidified my interest in pursuing neurology.

UMMC neurology was a great choice for me because we see a wide variety of pathology. The UMMC neurology community has been extremely supportive since day 1. While we get autonomy fairly early in our neurology training, I always feel that there's somebody available to help out at any time of the day.

While COVID limited my ability to explore too much in my intern year, Baltimore has been a great home since starting residency to enjoy life outside of neurology. I've enjoyed exploring the food scene, taking hikes with my wife, hanging out with my cat, playing board games and trivia, and watching sports (especially basketball, tennis, and soccer).
