Abhishek Hinduja

I first learned about the nervous system in a high school anatomy course and became fascinated by how little we know about its complexities. I was initially inclined to pursue research in the field, but my interests shifted after observing my cousin’s struggles with his epilepsy. My academic curiosity combined with the motivation to help treat neurological disorders led me to decide on Neurology.  

Despite not having an in-person experience during my interview season, the University of Maryland stood out. As an institution, I was impressed by its commitment to a diverse and underserved patient population. After speaking with the Neurology residents, I got a good sense of camaraderie among them as well as how the program supports their research and educational pursuits.  

Having been raised in multiple cities around the world, I enjoy living in Baltimore! The city, along with Baltimore County and the DMV area offers many fun activities and food options. So far, I have enjoyed visiting the national aquarium and going to Orioles games. As I continue through my year in Internal Medicine, I cannot wait for what is in store for me during my PGY-2 year!
